GET YOUR DRIVING PERMIT IN SRI LANKA
Regarding the temporary driving permit and license process —
As a safe and responsible driver, you must carry a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive any scooter, motorbike, or car in Sri Lanka.
If you don’t have an IDP, you can verify your country’s driving license through the Department of Motor Traffic. This can be done:
•On arrival at the airport, at their verification counter, or
•By visiting the Department of Motor Traffic Head Office in Colombo or Hambantota.
Please make sure to arrange this before starting your journey, so you can enjoy driving safely around this beautiful island!
We can assist you in obtaining AAC membership (Automobile Association of Ceylon), which is required for driving in Sri Lanka.
To process your membership, please provide the following:
•International Driving Permit
*country’s driving license
•Passport details page
•Clear face photo
The total cost is USD 72, which includes the agent service fee.
